We finished another little episode of our show about cars and music. This one about BMW’s E24 6 Series, and that band Edward Scissorhands sings for. And Pontiac 6000 STE fanboys, I apologize in advance.

Did you just skip Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (sure, you played the riff from Just Like Heaven as you closed the video)
I mean, don’t get me wrong, you just got me to watch an 18 minute youtube video about one of my favorite bands of all time that relates to a vehicle I’ve almost bought twice. So, I mean, you just earned yourself a new fan. But to go directly from The Head On The Door to Disintegration is kind of like going from Pretty Hate Machine to The Downward Spiral without ever mentioning Broken.
(For my bona fides: I had the following posters in my room, and though I did not join my friends in their hair feathering and carving eyes into their palms, I was right along with them with the music.)
But in all seriousness. This was a wonderful video. I don’t know exactly who your target audience is, other than... well. me, and my brother, and well, everyone else who loves music (like actually loves it, and has spent hundreds or thousands of nights talking about music way past their bedtime) and who loves cars (same).
Well. Fucking. Done.

Thanks man. I’ve been doing these little videos for over a year now just for myself and friends, with meager hopes that someone else out there shares the same interest in the band/car I’m covering. I’ve always joked the Venn diagram of the audience for the series is basically two non-touching circles, so it’s great to hear someone else enjoys both elements. AFA as not covering Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, there’s no excuse other than time...I had to cut parts out just to get it to 18 mins (cause, like you said, you can’t believe you sat through even those 18 mins haha). So I moved “Just Like Heaven” to the end, cause I knew that was the one Cure song that literally everyone on the planet knows (and came out the same year as the 635 I was covering) so it became a nice little unspoken wrap up. But I am sorry to give KMKMKM the short shrift, it deserves better.

I’ve now watched a couple of other videos. I wish I could do more than just share them and make sure that they get embiggened and with bold headlines here. Once upon a time ( years and years ago, all the way back in the 90's , which gives you a clue as to how old I am ) I wrote about music semi-professionally. And though it’s not professional, nor anything more than an excuse to talk about music, and recently I’ve taken a break from doing it, I have about a hundred and fifty posts over on backtalk about my weird musical obsessions ( https://kinja.com/tag/songs-ever… )
Just finding the people who share my crazy obsessions with music is hard enough, combining that with people who also obsess over cars? That’s a venn diagram of people I want to know.
And I totally understand how things end up on the cutting room floor, but I had to point it out. Almost entirely because, well, as you said, everyone knows Just Like Heaven. But your insight, and playing really make the whole experience that much more. This isn’t just someone like me without an ounce of talent talking about the music, this is someone who studied it enough to reproduce it, in all its parts, and then mix, produce, and edit it together. Color me impressed.
I would imagine these aren’t easy to make, and are horribly time consuming, but I can’t wait for the next video. Also, if you need to share them once for the day crew, and again for the night crew. Please do so if you want to.

Wow, just read through a bunch of your posts...Ashlee Simpson, Mad Season, Type O Negative...that’s a freaking masterclass-level of musical coverage. Seriously, very cool. I’m gonna read some more right now. And I should have another video coming in a month or so. And yes, timing consuming is definitely one way to put it...

My musical tastes really do run the gamut. I had the advantage of being exposed to a lot of music early on in my life, and then realizing (through, of all bands, The Cure), that not listening to music from a band because of their fans, or how ‘cool’ they are, or anything else, is ridiculous (this is how I missed seeing The Cure live back in the day, I have seen them since).
But because of this I have no problem going from Taylor Swift, to Owl City, to Nine Inch Nails, to Suicide, to the Tangled soundtrack (I have a 5 year old daughter, but I grew up in love with the Little Mermaid soundtrack, so I can’t really blame her). And don’t even get me started on my love for Weird Al (it rivals my love for NIN and Curve, which is well and truly saying something).
But I also DD a 2000 VW Beetle (5MT with the 2.slow engine), so I’m not exactly the stereotypical car nerd either.
Glad you enjoyed reading them. I really wrote them for me, half as a journal, half as an excuse to just talk about the music I love and that has come to shape me and my tastes.

I fell in love with Top Gear. Then I started watching Regular Car Reviews. Then came Mighty Car Mods.
Now I have a new favorite to add to those. This is one of the most fantastic pieces of automotive videography I have come across.
Thank you for sharing and, more importantly, for all the time and effort that you put into making these. Looking forward to the next episode!

Wow, that’s incredibly high praise and I really appreciate it. I’m working hard on the next one, and it’s really motivating to know there’s people out there interested in watching it. Thanks again!
